Jersey Day and 100th Day!

Friday was an exciting day in first grade! Students showed off their jerseys and t-shirts of some of their favorite teams, we celebrated a birthday, and we celebrated our 100th day of school!

Exploring Sound in Science

We've been learning about sound, vibrations, and hearing the past few weeks in Science. This week students got to see how sound travels through hoses like it does in the tubes in their ears.

We had lots of fun at the Posadas/Christmas Carols celebration last night! Thank you to those who came. What a wonderful way to kick off our Christmas Vacation!

Refugee Service Project

When Pope Francis addressed Congress in September, he called on all of us to live out the Golden Rule, particularly when it comes to the millions of refugees around the world who are looking for safety.  In response to his call, the first graders made and sold bookmarks and were able to raise $345.00 for the UN Refugee Agency.  Thank you all for your support with this project.  Let us continue to pray for peace in our world and for our hearts to be opened to truly love our neighbor as ourselves.  

Christmas Carols and Las Posadas

A flyer went home today with some more information about the Christmas Carols and Las Posadas celebration on Friday, 12/18.  The first and second grade classes will be singing "O Come All Ye Faithful" together, and this is the version we're using to practice with in class.  Feel free to practice at home so you all can sing along with us!
